Website of the Week

Happy Website Wednesday!

The International Children’s Digital Library offers children (and those of us who are kids at heart) access to multicultural children’s literature. The great thing about ICDL is that it has been designed to be easy for children to navigate the site and find great stories. It also makes use of a variety of categorizes such as age range, genre, and award winners (to name but a few) and different search options in order to further aid children in their quest to find a good read. So, go create and ICDL bookshelf and get reading!

So, check it out!

Amazon sales pop as Kindle e-books overtake paperbacks – Jan. 27, 2011

Amazon sales pop as Kindle e-books overtake paperbacks – Jan. 27, 2011.

I don’t know whether I am excited about the ease and power to deliver information e-book readers represent or sad at the decline in physical book sales. I mean who doesn’t love the idea of being able to carry all their books around without a giant backpack (or for some of us, a large moving van). Or, to be able to buy or checkout books from the convenience of practically anywhere. Sounds good to me….BUT, there is just something about books! The luscious smell of a new book, the rich feel of the heavy paper, the subtle sound of the pages being turned….I love it! And I, for one, would be sad to see it go.
